Be Proactive and Make a Healthy Strategy for the Holidays

Are you the type of person who looks forward to eating your way through the holiday season and then ends up having to lose weight after the holidays are over? Unfortunately, everyone seems to have good intentions only after the fact. But it’s easier to stay in shape than lose weight. And everyone seems to think that this year will be different. We’ll watch ourselves, be aware of the tendency to overindulge and work harder to curb our appetites and urge.

s. But good intentions never work. Be proactive this holiday season by increasing your exercise routines before the holiday festivities begin. If you’re in the habit of walking, cycling or jogging for exercise, simply try to increase the amount of time you spend exercising. If you exercise for 30 minutes every day, you’re in good enough shape to increase it by 10 to 15 minutes without feeling much overexertion.

Get Ahead of the Season

By increasing your exercise before the holidays kick in, you’re actually over-adjusting for the extra calories to come. You’re realistically not going to eat much more than you usually do, but you’ll probably be consuming fattier and sweeter foods if you’re eating the typical holiday type of fare.

Staying aware of your body by exercising through the holidays may also help you to drink less. Alcohol turns into sugars, which turns into fat. Sweets and rich foods combined with alcohol are what pile on the kilos at this time of year. And those kilos are increasingly difficult to get rid of the older you get.

Instead of regretting holiday indulgences, get ahead of the game by increasing your exercise and drinking less during the holidays.
